Sean Penn took home the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading role on
Sunday evening, beating out the other nominees. Penn received the
Oscar for his work on Gus Van Sant's film "Milk" about a
gay rights activist in San Francisco. The award was the second to go
to 'Milk' after the film's writer Dustin Lance Black won the award
for Best Original Screenplay earlier in the night. Penn, 48, picked up the second Oscar of his career, the first being
his 2004 win for his lead role as a grieving father in "Mystic
River." "You commie, homo-loving, sons of guns," the
sharp-tongued Penn told the audience as he collected his award. "I
did not expect this and...I know how hard I make it to appreciate
me."
Sean
sniped at ex-wife Madonna when they met at an after-show party.
Madonna, 50, praised 48-year-old Penn's winning performance in
Milk. But Penn gestured at the singer's new love, model Jesus
Luz, 22, and said: "Thanks. Another kid already?" Check out the pictures of Sean Penn and his shiny new Oscar.
