Favre left his heart in Lambeau, but not his helmet.
Just moments ago the packers sent Brett Favre to the New York Jets for a ham
sandwitch and a juice box, ending nearly two decades of dominance. Why would
the Packers send their legendary quarterback, and last year's runner up in the
MVP voting to the Jets for a 4th round pick? That's simple, so the
team can move forward.
"It is with some sadness that we make this announcement, but also with the
desire for certainty that will allow us to move the team and organization
forward in the most positive way possible."
After this statement Ted Thompson called up President Bush and requested
military protection from the angry packers fans when unproven, unreliable
quarterback, Aaron Rodgers leads the team to a 7-9 season. And guess what the
Packers nation should be pissed. Fans and Analyists all conclude the same
thing, that Favre was the better QB right now. Hell, everyone in the organization
from players to coaches know that they had a better chance to win now with number
4 behind center...period.
No personel or players said that much, but it's what's not said that speaks
volumes. When Thompson or McCarthy was asked what quarterback gives you a
better chance to win today neither GM nor Coach McCarthy would proclaim Rodgers
the better man for the job, yet they always insisted that Aaron was the
starter. In any position in any sport, when you are the starter you SHOULD be
the best player in that position, dependant upon injury. If that logic stands
then it SHOULD be easy to proclaim Rodgers the better man for the job. The fact
is that this didn't happen, because everyone knows Rodger's is not the best man
for the job and the locker room knows it as well.
Yes you should be pissed Packers fans. You're organization gave up a proven
commodity, someone they knew to be the best option for their team to win now
for an unproven, injury prone quarterback. Ted Thompson sacrificed winning now,
for the potential to win later. That is never a formula for success, and both
Ted Thompson and McCarthy will pay for this blunder with their jobs.
